Vein Removal

In a treatment that usually lasts between 5 and 30 minutes we will use specialist therapies to target your unwanted veins.

Our medical grade laser targets unwanted veins on the face and chest areas, sealing them up and causing them to dissolve and disappear.

Sclerotherapy enables us to effectively treat your varicose veins.

How does it work?

Laser treatment can be used to target fine veins and arteries in other parts of the body. It is also available to treat other vein-related problems including port wine stains, campbell de morgan spots, birthmarks, teleangiectasia, spider veins, haemangiomas, nevus flammeus, and venous lake.

For leg veins, particularly varicose veins, we use a series of fine needle injections in a process known as sclerotherapy. The vein dissolves over a few days and is eliminated by the body’s natural waste system.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you will need depends upon the number and severity of the veins you wish to treat. Several sessions are usually required, which are spread out over a number of months to allow the full effect of each treatment to take place.

Does it hurt?

For facial laser vein removal, we use a Varilight laser that is state of the art. Most people describe the treatment as a ‘prickling’ sensation.

For leg vein removal via sclerotherapy, a mild stinging sensation can be associated with the injection, however most people are able to tolerate the procedure quite comfortably.

If you are having veins removed from a sensitive part of your body, we can apply a topical anaesthetic to numb the area beforehand.

Are there any side effects?

In the vast majority of cases, we find that there are no significant side effects to vein removal.

Some may experience some redness, itching or mild bruising for a few days following laser treatment.

In a few cases, the side effects of sclerotherapy, can include; allergic reaction, bruising, mild infection, the formation of new veins, or vein irritation such as matting, lumps, brown lines or spots, swelling, and in rare cases, ulcers or blood clots.

What are the results?

Facial veins results are immediate. Sclerotherapy results can take up to a few days, patients are required to wear a pressure stocking post treatment for around 10 days.
